Well folks. In four months and two days I will be 30. Lest you think I’m dreading this … I’m not. I’m actually super excited about it! I am positive 30 will be great, just like 25 was great. I really loved 25. It’s the perfect age I think. 26 was ok. 27 was just plain awful. I can’t remember 28. and 29 has been … not as good as 25, but definitely better than 27. But back to 30. 30, I’m certain, is going to be over-the-top fabulous. I’m excited. I really am.
But as I ponder what 30 means (for a single gal like myself) and as I try to anticipate how it will feel to leave the 20s (as the aforementioned single gal) … There are some things I want to do. Things to mark the end of an era. Things to herald in a new. And so a list must be made.
I love making lists. I love to check things off of them. Sometimes when I make a new list, my very first task is: “1) Finish this list” just so I can check that off. So. Here’s my list of
THINGS TO DO BEFORE I’M 30…
1. Loose 40 pounds
I must do this. I want to do this. I can do this. And while it’s humiliating to make that a public announcement, perhaps it will keep me motivated. I’ll keep you posted as to how it goes.
2. Sew a dress to wear to my fancy 30th birthday party
More details and invitations to come! :)
3. Organize my room/mind/life
I cannot function one more year in the piles that have accumulated. I am weeding out the necessary from the unnecessary and organizing that which I deem essential. The 30s will be clean and clutter free!
4. Follow a dream
I am a dreamer. And while it’s the quality I love most about myself, it can also be the thing that holds me back from achieving dreams. While I could/should be doing, I’m usually day-dreaming about how I would do it. And I have a few things I’ve been tossing around in my head lately. So I’m going to choose one and go for it. Yes, I am.
5. Go to the temple every week between now and then
I realize this is something I should already be doing. When I was a kid I would say, “If I lived in Utah, I would go to the temple all the time.” Well now I’m a grown-up living in Utah and I’ve totally taken for granted the blessing it is to live near so many temples. So back on the bandwagon. And off to the temple I go.
So there is the list. Definitely manageable wouldn’t you say? Let the countdown begin. Yay!
Tell me: What do you want to do before your next birthday?

You are such a youngin’!
i always forget what a kid you are! (grin)
Couple ‘o things.
1.) LOSE THE 40 BY YOUR BIRTHDAY!! DO IT. you CAN and you deserve it. I’ll be rooting for you.
2.) 30 was my very best birthday. I believe my spirit was 30 all along (thus CSPAN and Barry Manilow at a young age). It was nice to catch up
3.) and this is the most important…Christ began his ministry at 30. Everything he did prepared him for that. Approach your bday that way.
GOOD for you! 30 is fantastic!
I LOVE IT! And if you need any help or an extra nudge along the way…count me in ! :) Kim H
